Birthday Reflections

This is my third attempt at writing this blog post. It's my birthday this week and I wanted to share something with you that would help you get to know me better. I tried it from several different angles, but then I would get to the end of my post and save what I wrote, but somehow it just didn't feel right. Then this morning I had an epiphany! I'm a photographer, not a writer. (Duh!!)Why not let the photographs speak for themselves?? Genius idea, right! Not sure why it took me so long to figure out, but here it is! These images are all from this past year. I hope they make you smile, and I hope you can get to know me a little better through them.

At the playground of the elementary school I went to

Typical Saturday morning at our house with a Grandma Mary favorite- Cream of Wheat and toast

Hiking in the Redwoods

Went back to visit the house we grew up in, and brought all the kiddos

If you follow my Instagram stories you've seen those goggles before

Going on ELEVEN YEARS with this guy

We were camping here- that's why Ruby's hair looks like a disaster

There you have it! Birthdays are a great time for reflection and I wanted to end with a couple thoughts. First of all, it really all comes down to family. These are the relationships that count. This is why I choose to be a family photographer, because this is what is most important to me and I understand the need to capture it. Second, I did a lot better getting in front of the camera this year than I did last year! See, improvements are not impossible. :) If you have any burning questions about me or want to share some of your favorite birthday traditions, feel free to comment below. I'm looking forward to my next year and all that it has in store!
